Yasmin Finney

Yasmin Finney (born 2003[1]) is an English actress and Internet personality. She appeared on GLAAD's second annual 20 Under 20 list.[2] She is known for her role in the Netflix series Heartstopper (2022–).

Early life

Finney is from Manchester. Her mother is Tracey Finney. She participated in a number of local theatre productions growing up.[3]

Career

Finney initially gained prominence through her videos on TikTok about her experiences as a Black British transgender teenager.[4] At seventeen in April 2021, Finney was cast as Kelsa in the Billy Porter film What If? and Elle Argent in the Netflix series Heartstopper, the latter of which premiered in 2022.[5][6] She had to pull out of What If? due to COVID-19 travel restrictions impacting her ability to get a United States work visa, leading her to be replaced by Eva Reign.[7]
