History

In 2007, Nettwerk music executive, entrepreneur and yogi Terry McBride founded YYOGA with Lara Kozan.[4][5][6][8] The company was founded with the intention to create a community of yoga studio and lifestyles centres whose schedules fit better into peoples lifestyles.

In October 2012, McBride partnered with Ian Gillespie, a Vancouver developer, to place wellness centres within residential developments.[9] Their collaboration allowed McBride to build studios, as opposed to leasing and renovating pre-existing buildings. The company opened its first location in Toronto, Canada in November 2013.[1][6] According to Business Vancouver, the studio is the largest studio in the YYOGA network and also in Toronto.[6]

In 2019, the company launched YYOGA at Home, which offers hundreds of pre-recorded classes and daily live streaming classes of yoga, pilates, meditation and mindful movement. In addition, the company launched Own a YYOGA, a franchise program where owners are supported by an established team and brand to be their own boss.

The company operates 9 studios in Vancouver, British Columbia, Richmond, Burnaby, North Vancouver, West Vancouver, Whistler and has an active online and social media presence at @YYOGA.[3]
