Waratah Coal
Waratah Coal is coal mining company owned by mining magnate Clive Palmer. It was originally formed in 1862. It is now a subsidiary of Palmer’s Mineralogy. It holds explorations permits within the Laura, Bowen, Galilee and Surat Basins.
Management
Between 2006 and 2010 Peter Lynch was CEO and President of the company.
Plans
Waratah Coal is seeking approval for a new coal-fired power station in Central Queensland,[1] near the town of Alpha. The company has plans to develop the Galilee Coal Project, a mine close to Alpha, for which approval is being sought before the Queensland Land Court[1] and the North Alpha Coal Project which is another coal mine to the north of Alpha.
