Vicky Jepson

Victoria Jepson (born 23 February 1987) is an English women's professional football manager. She works in the FA Women's Super League with Tottenham Hotspur F.C. Women having previously managed Liverpool F.C. Women first team in both the WSL and FA Women's Championship league. Jepson holds a career committing to developing women's football, having spent 12 years at her former club.

Background

Born in Macclesfield, Jepson attended Macclesfield College and coached at Macclesfield Town.[1] She started working at Liverpool in 2009 holding various roles including coaching across the entire elite girls pathway from u11s up to the u21s squad whilst holding coach education courses with the Premier League abroad in Indonesia, China, Hong Kong and Qatar .[2] In addition she has worked for The FA at their girls' excellence camps which help to develop the country's best younger players. In 2014, Jepson was nominated for the FA Female Development Coach of the Year, and won the award the following year after transitioning several youth players into the senior Liverpool FC Women's Squad.[3]

Career history

2021/2022 Season

Jepson joined the coaching staff for Tottenham Hotspur Women FC in July 2021.[4] She works alongside Rehanne Skinner as the Assistant coach/manager. The women's team are in their third season of the WSL, having achieved promotion to the league in May 2019 (the first time in their history).

2018/2019 Season

Jepson was appointed Assistant Manager for Liverpool FC Women in June 2018, alongside Neil Redfearn who was appointed Manager. After just one game, Redfearn departed the club, leaving Chris Kirkland and Vicky Jepson in charge. On the 26th October, 2018, Jepson was appointed the permanent first team manager of the WSL side.[5]

Jepson's first game in charge saw a 1–0 victory against Hope Powell's Brighton Hove Albion WFC. Jepson's first contract signing as a Professional Manager was awarded to England U23 player, Jemma Purfield.[6] This season also saw contract extension for striker, Jessica Clarke. The reds ended their season positioned 8th out of 12 in the league.

In 2020 Liverpool Women were relegated from the Women's Super League after the league was terminated with 8 games left to play and only 1 point between Liverpool FC Women and the team above. The League was subsequently decided on a points-per-game basis due to the pandemic.[7]

On 12 January 2021 Liverpool announced that Jepson had left the club by mutual consent.[8]
