Vasyl Dunin-Borkovsky
Yuri Vasily Dunin-Borkovsky (Ukrainian: Василь Дунін-Борковський, 1640 - March 4, 1702) - Cossack politician; Captain of Wiebel (1668), Colonel of Chernihiv (1672–1685), General of the convoy officer in the government of the Hetmanate (1685–1702). In 1687 he was acting hetman for one week before being elected as permanent. He is known for his patronage and participation in conspiracies against Hetmans Demian Mnohohrishny and Ivan Samoylovych. He supported the Orthodox Church in every possible way, in particular, he restored the Transfiguration Cathedral and restored the Yelets Monastery.[1]
