Vadipatti
Vadipatti is a panchayat town in the Madurai district in the Indian state of Tamil Nadu. Population of the town is 21,833.[2] The famous Festival for Bull are "Jallikattu","Manju virattu" or "Erudhukattu Vizha". The major "Jallikattu Protest" happened in the surroundings of this town.

Etymology
The name 'Vadipatti' derived from the root word 'Vaayil' or 'Vaasal' means the door or entrance. It has the historic background, it was the one of the boundaries and the entrance of Madurai and also the camping place of Pandyas which evident from the Kulasekara Pandian's period.
Geography
There is a bifurcated river of Vaigai (aka Mullai Periyaru Irrigational Channel) runs south of this small township. There is a village near to this place called Kulasekaran Kottai, where Kulasekara Pandian of Pandya Dynasty had his palace and Meenakshi temple constructed here by him still exist. Ponnaiah malai also located in this town.
Demographics
As of a 2001 Indian census,[3] Vadipatti had a population of 21,780. Males and females each constitute 50% of the population. Vadipatti has an average literacy rate of 68%, higher than the national average of 59.5%: male literacy is 77%, and female literacy is 61%. In Vadipatti, 10% of the population is under 6 years of age.
Politics
Vadipatti comes under the Assembly Constituency of Sholavandan. Sholavandan assembly constituency is part of Theni (Lok Sabha constituency),[4]
Economy
Its paddy field and plantain field are source for the people who live around this place. This village has its weekly market on every Tuesday.
Landmark
Arokiya Annai Shrine (Church) is located next to St.John's Health Care Centre, Hospital/Clinic. The main village of L Pudur is located near the bus stand.
