It is played in a swimming pool between teams of six who use fins, mask, and snorkel. A modified version of a hockey stick is used to move a weighted puck around the bottom of the pool and into the other teams goal. Underwater hockey began in 1954, and reached its modern form around 1985. It is played in some 20 countries around the world.
