Trifon (given name)
Trifon or Trifón is a given name with Greek- and Russian-language origins. Its source word is Triihpo (Russian: Трифон) and has been used mainly by the Orthodox people.[1] The variant Trifon appeared as a result of an hp → f change.[1] Another variant of the word is Ruippo, a surname which was employed in Southern Karelia and Eastern Savo before World War II.[2]
Trifon is also the name of the Christian god of wine.[3]
