Tori Tsui

Tori Tsui is an Hongkonger intersectional climate activist and mental health advocate who living in Bristol, England.

Early life and education

Tsui was born and grew in Hong Kong.[1]

She was graduated in 2015 as Master of Research in Ecology, Evolution and Conservation at Imperial College London which build their foundation of Climate Science and its sustainability.[2] A year after their graduation, Tsui moved to Bristol to learn about natural history documentary industry.[3]

Activism movement

Their involvement as being part of extinction rebellion for making short movies about how climate change affects specific species for Extinction Rebellion's social media led them to be called by creative director of Stella McCartney to be part of their campaign. Later, in April 2019. two girl from the campaign's team met them in Extinction Rebellion's event in London to interviewed them about their involvement in Climate activism.[3] She was become part of the advertising campaign called ‘Agents of Change’ as one of activist such as Jane Goddall, Deya Ward and Ruby Munslow. The campaign are also accompanied by models consist of Amber Valletta, Chu Wong, Trinity Hill and Chloe Pearson.[4]

Their connection with McCartney doesn't end there cause Mccartney also sponsored Tsui in project called Sail To The COP which was a think tank initiative for 36 Europeans to sail through Atlantic Ocean to attend 2019 United Nations Climate Change Conference in Santiago, Chile. Cause of the civil disorder in Chile, the event was relocated to Madrid and this relocation made the project halted in halfway. They continue the project by arriving in island of Martinique, Caribbean and worked remotely from this place to join COP25. Finally, the ship was docked in Cartagena, Colombia as the final destination.[3]

She spend two month by building a new project called Sail for Climate Action and made they doesn't get home with other participant on 23 February 2020. The project's purpose was to bring Latin American, Indigenous and Caribbean young activist to attend United Nations Climate Change Intersessional SB52 in Bonn, Germany. Though, the project also cancelled cause of Covid-19 pandemic and stopped at Bermuda.[5]

Later, Sail for Climate Action was rebranded to become Unite for Climate Action.[6] The project's purpose was to make the activists share their stories with German government officials in late 2020.[7] She continued his activism by organizing a new campaign in autumn of 2020 with Dominique Palmer, Frances Fox, George Steedman Jones and Elijah Mckenzie-Jackson called Pass the Mic as a response to the David Attenborough's retirement announcement of his Instagram's account. The campaign was focused to make famous brands, figures and organization to give the frontline climate activist and people affected by the climate change a chance to amplify their voice. [8]

Recently she was being a part of #StopCambo Campaign. which was also attended on 2021 United Nations Climate Change Conference.[9]

Organization

She also founded Bad Activist Collective podcast with Kisjonah Roos and Julia Gentner and part of Climate Control Projects.[10]
