Thomas Floyd (politician)

Thomas Floyd was a soldier in the American Civil War and a state senator in Louisiana who was murdered in the Coushatta massacre of August 1874 by a mob of white supremacists who attacked his home while his wife and daughter were present. He was hauled outside and shot in the head.[1][2][3] An African American, he served in the Union Army during the American Civil War.[4]
