Theyazin bin Haitham

Theyazin bin Haitham Al Said (Arabic: ذي يزن بن هيثم آل سعيد; born 21 August 1990) is the Crown Prince of Oman[1] and the son of Sultan Haitham bin Tariq. He is also the Minister of Culture, Youth and Sports. He was officially appointed as Crown Prince after the Omani government decreed a constitutional adjustment which allows the Sultan to select an heir.

Biography

Sayyid Theyazin (pronounced Dhi-Yazan) bin Haitham bin Tariq attended the Oxford Brookes University, graduating with a bachelor's degree in Political Science.[2]

His father is Sayyid Haitham bin Tariq, the current Sultan of Oman. His mother is Sayyida Ahad bint Abdullah bin Hamad Al Busaidiyah, the First Lady of Oman. He has one brother and two sisters.[3] His paternal uncle Sayyid Asad bin Tariq is the Deputy Prime Minister for relations and international cooperation affairs, and his other paternal uncle Sayyid Shihab bin Tariq is the Deputy Prime Minister for Defense Affairs.[4] The former Sultan, Qaboos bin Said, is one of his paternal uncles.[5]

Theyazin has been Minister of Culture, Sports and Youth since 18 August 2020. He previously worked at the Omani Embassy in London for five years from 2014.[6] He has also worked at the foreign ministry from 2013, according to Omani media.[7][8]

Marriage

On 11 November 2021, Prince Theyazin married HH Sayyida Meyyan Bint Shihab Al Said at Mazay Hall of Al Alam Palace in Muscat, Oman. They had been engaged since January 2021.[9]
