Song meaning and structure

"There Goes My Miracle" is sung in a higher register than usual, and finds Bruce Springsteen lamenting a love that slipped away.[5] The song follows the tone of the album's first single "Hello Sunshine," and is evocative of the AM pop that came out of the Los Angeles area in the late '60s and early '70; however, unlike the earlier single's gentle country shuffle, "There Goes My Miracle" features a lush and orchestral arrangement, with melodic detours which have been described as "more reminiscent of the Beach Boys' Pet Sounds than Glen Campbell";[6] "There Goes My Miracle" has also been described as "a healthy embrace of Springsteen's love for crooners like Burt Bacharach".[7]
