The Vagabonds (Arabic: الصعاليك, transliterated as Al-Sa’aleek) is an Egyptian film released in 1985. Based on the film Borsalino by Jacques Deray,[1] it marks the directorial debut of Daoud Abdel Sayed.[2]

Synopsis

Morsi (Nour El-Sherif) and Salah (Mahmoud Abdel Aziz) live the slacker life in Alexandria. Morsi marries Safiya (Yousra). When Morsi is jailed for killing a young man in a hit and run, Salah takes care of Morsi’s wife and son.

After Morsi’s release from prison, he returns into partnership in crime with Salah as successful drug dealers. They are joined by a businessman named Al-Dawakhli (Ali al-Ghandour), who double-crosses them. Morsi and Salah come into conflict when Salah decides to retaliate with damaging revelations about Al-Dawakhli and Morsi refuses to play along.
