The Drone Virus was first published in 2000 through Writers Club Press and later republished it through iUniverse.[1] Clarke drew inspiration for the novel from his own work as an ophthalmologist and as a computer software expert.[2] He finished the first draft within a few months, but revised the novel seven times.[3] A reviewer for the Green Bay Press-Gazette reviewed the book favorably.[4]
