Background

The tour was originally announced on March 5, 2020, as a six-date-long, limited concert series for the summer of that year.[1] Due to safety concerns over the COVID-19 pandemic, it was first posponed to summer 2021, before its second postponement to summer 2022.[2][3] New dates with additional venues were announced on March 7, 2022.[4] On April 14, 2022, two dates in Tokorozawa were announced, marking the singer's first show in Japan in eight years.[5]

During her residency in Las Vegas, Gaga was asked by a fan to perform "Shallow", her Oscar-winning song from A Star is Born, which Gaga teased would be on the set list for The Chromatica Ball.[6] On April 28, 2022, after teasing her single "Hold My Hand" for Top Gun: Maverick, a fan asked if she was going to perform it on tour, which Gaga confirmed.[7]
