On 29 February 2012, he played for the Indonesia national football team against Bahrain in 2014 FIFA World Cup qualification (AFC). He captain of the team for that match, but he got a red card. Subsequently Andi Muhammad Guntur went in goal and the result was a 10–0 loss, resulting in Indonesia's biggest defeat in their history.
