Svatá Maří lies approximately 14 kilometres (9 mi) north-west of Prachatice, 49 km (30 mi) west of České Budějovice, and 122 km (76 mi) south of Prague.

Etymology
Svatá Maří was named after the church consecrated to Saint Mary Magdalene (in Czech popularly called svatá Maří Magdaléna).[2]
