Background

St. Edmond was named in honor of Bishop Edmond Heelan, Bishop of the Sioux City Diocese from 1918 to 1948. School nickname is the "Gaels". [1]

Although they do not have much success in Athletics, their music programs have been very successful. Their band program has been very successful in recent years with a line of very promising band teachers. In 2022 the high school jazz band consistently placed in the top 2 at every competition. Most recently they became District Champions of 2022 and will be moving on to the Iowa State Jazz Championships. The choir is also good.
