Spoiler Alert (film)

Spoiler Alert is an upcoming American biographical drama film directed by Michael Showalter, from a screenplay written by David Marshall Grant and Dan Savage. The film is based on the memoir Spoiler Alert: The Hero Dies by Michael Ausiello. The film stars Jim Parsons as Ausiello, along with Ben Aldridge, Bill Irwin and Sally Field.

Premise

The film follows the final 11-month period of photographer Kit Cowan's life, from his diagnosis with terminal cancer to his death, through the eyes of his lover Michael Ausiello and their relationship.

Production

Production began in December 2018, when Jim Parsons signed on to produce and star in the film and Michael Showalter signed on to direct it.[1] In July 2021, Ben Aldridge was cast as Kit Cowan.[2] In September 2021, Sally Field joined the cast playing Kit's mother, Marilyn.[3] Principal photography began in the fall in New York City.[4]
