Silk Way West Airlines

Silk Way West Airlines is an Azerbaijani cargo airline with its head office and main operating base at Heydar Aliyev International Airport[2] in Baku, Azerbaijan.[3] It is a subsidiary of the Silk Way Group along with sister airline, Silk Way Airlines which operates Il-76's.[4][5] The aircraft are registered in Bermuda.[6]

History

In April 2021, Silk Way West Airlines placed an order for five Boeing 777F aircraft. [7] Silk Way Group President; Zaur Akhundov said the deal is an incremental part the airlines fleet renewal and commitment to meet its customer's expectations.[8]

Destinations

Silk Way West Airlines operates cargo flights to 45 destinations in Europe, Asia and North America. In October 2018, the company announced it would launch a twice-weekly freighter service from its hub in Baku to Tianjin in China.[9][10]

Partnerships

Silk Way West Airlines was embedded as an important partner in the logistic supply chain of Formula One operations ahead of and during the Azerbaijan Grand Prix from 2016 to 2018. The airline has since begun negotiations to expand logistical transit support to Formula One worldwide.[11]
