Sidhnak Mahar Inamdar

Sidhnak Inamdar, also known as Sidhnak Mahar, (18th century to 19th century)[1][2] was an Indian warrior of Mahar Regiment.[3] He belonged to Mahar caste.[4] He is popularly known for the Battle of Bhima-Koregaon.[5]

Early life

Sidhnak Mahar's grandfather was gifted Kalambali village of Satara as Inaam by Peshwas for his loyalty. So Sidhnak Mahar also got this Inaam as heridetary.[6]

Battles

Sidhnak Mahar formed a Mahar battalion. He asked Peshwas to join hands with him but the Peshwas rejected so Sidhnak Mahar joined the British Army.[7]

Sidhnak Mahar with his army of 500 defeated the large Peshwas army within twelve hours and created a pathway for British win and this British won the battle.

Memorial

Sidhnak Mahar's memorial Samadhi is situated in Kalambi village of Sangli district.[8]

Veer Shidhnak Foundation is a welfare trust ranby his descendants Abhijeet Inamdar in Kalambi Tal.Miraj Sangli district .[9][10]

Bollywood actor Arjun Rampal plays the role of Sidhnak Mahar Inamdar in The Battle of Bhima Koregaon, an upcoming film.[11][12][13]
