Sandra Feist

Sandra Feist is an American politician and attorney. She is a Democratic–Farmer–Labor member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from the 41B district.

Early life and education

Feist was born and raised in Wisconsin[1] where she attended the University of Wisconsin–Madison for her Bachelor of Arts degree. She subsequently moved from Wisconsin to New Orleans, Louisiana to sing jazz. She quickly began her career in immigration law as a Case Manager for David Ware & Associates.[2]

In 2005, while attending Loyola University New Orleans College of Law, Feist was displaced due to Hurricane Katrina. She travelled north to be with family in Minnesota. Feist accepted a temporary placement at William Mitchell College of Law.[3] She met her husband on her first day, standing in line in the cafeteria. Feist said that by the time New Orleans reopened, she was already attached to Minnesota and chose to stay.[4]

Career

After settling in Minnesota, Feist opened her own immigration law firm, Grell Feist PLC., in 2010 and accepted various leadership position within the American Immigration Lawyers Association.[1] In 2020, Feist succeeded Mary Kunesh-Podein as the Democratic member of the Minnesota House of Representatives from the 41B district.[5]

Personal life

Feist and her husband Ben have two children together.[6]
