SOST (bullet type)
SOST (from "Special Operations Science and Technology") is a special type of bullet developed for the United States Armed Forces. SOST projectiles evolved from Federal Premium Ammunition's "Trophy Bonded Bear Claw" line and feature a reverse-drawn, "open tip match" design and a lead core with a solid copper shank. This design improves the projectile's accuracy and terminal ballistics, even after penetration of intermediate barriers, such as automotive glass and car doors. They were first featured in the MK318 5.56 NATO and MK319 7.62 NATO loadings.[1][2]
