SAF Warrant Officer School
SAFWOS Leadership School (SAFWOS; noun) is a training school of the Singapore Armed Forces that trains warrant officers and military experts (through-train).[1] It is located within the Pasir Laba Camp complex. In the new scheme, Third Warrant Officers (3WO) and Military Expert 2 (ME2) of all services aspiring to promote to higher ranks in the Warrant Officer Corps are trained here. On graduation from the intense and gruelling 15-week Joint Leadership Course, they receive their certificates of graduation, and are ready to face the challenges and demands of direct-leadership in the SAF. The Joint Leadership Course is accredited by the Singapore SkillsFuture WSQ Professional Diploma in Leadership & People Management (Level 4).
SAFWOS (noun) Leadership School is a tri-service school, which has the stated aim of bringing warrant officers and military experts (through-train) from all three services together in a great "melting pot" where leadership competencies are shaped, strengthened, and sharpened. Ideas are exchanged, and cohesion is developed. Apart from training new warrant officers and military experts (through-train), SAFWOS Leadership School conducts other courses as part of continuing leadership training for existing warrant officers, and military experts (through-train) taking up new appointments such as Battalion Regimental Sergeant Major. SAFWOS Leadership School, Specialist and Warrant Officer Advanced School (SWAS) and Specialist Cadet School (SCS), are part of the Specialist & Warrant Officer Institute (SWI) commissioned in 2007 and re-organised in 2010.
SAFWOS; SAF Warrant Officer School, has been renamed as SAFWOS (noun) Leadership School since 17 January 2018 to be inclusive of the Military Expert Corps (through-train), who also undergo leadership training and development at the direct- and organisation-levels for the SAF.
