Ryan J. Brown

Ryan J. Brown (born 29 August 1991) is an English screenwriter, born in Scunthorpe, Lincolnshire, United Kingdom.

Education and career

Brown studied at Goldsmiths, University of London and Mountview Academy of Theatre Arts.[1]

In 2016 he won the BAFTA New Writing Prize for TV Drama for his LGBT crime drama We Are Your Children.[2] We Are Your Children was selected for the Brit List TV 2018, an annual selection of the best unproduced screenplays as voted for by the industry.[3] In 2019, Brown was again featured highly on The Brit List for the second time with his Big Talk Productions project Only Child[4]

In 2017 Brown was featured in Gay Times as an "LGBT Emerging Artist to watch."[5]

In March 2021 the BBC announced they are to make Brown's comedy-horror series Wrecked, a six-part comedy-horror series from Fremantle Media’s Euston Films.[6] The six-part series is set aboard a mega cruise ship. It follows 19-year-old new recruit Jamie as he joins the crew in search of his missing sister.[7] The series is due to be shown on BBC Three and BBC iPlayer in 2022.
