Rahul Kohli

Rahul Kohli (born 13 November 1985) is a British actor. He[lower-alpha 1] is best known for starring roles in the comedy-drama TV series iZombie (2015–19) and the horror miniseries The Haunting of Bly Manor (2020) and Midnight Mass (2021).

Early life

Kohli was born in London on 13 November 1985, the son of Indian Hindu immigrant parents; his father spent his early years in Kenya while his mother was raised in Thailand.[1] His grandparents were born in British India before the Partition of India, in what would later become Pakistan.[2][3][4]

Career

Kohli was cast in a lead role in the television series iZombie (2015–2019) as Dr. Ravi Chakrabarti.[5] He appeared in all 71 episodes of the show. Other notable credits include the 2018 film Happy Anniversary,[6] the TV series Supergirl (2017–2019),[7][8] and the animated TV series Harley Quinn (2019–2020)

Kohli starred as Owen Sharma in The Haunting of Bly Manor, a Netflix horror drama series by Mike Flanagan released on October 9, 2020.[9][10] He went on to star in Midnight Mass, a supernatural horror miniseries also created by Flanagan, in the role of Sheriff Hassan Shabazz.[11] The series was released on September 24, 2021.

Personal life

In July 2018, Kohli announced his engagement to his girlfriend Yasmin Molloy.[12]

Kohli is an active Twitter user, an avid gamer,[5] and a supporter of football team Liverpool FC.[13] Kohli uses both he and singular they pronouns; he made the choice after reading a guide from GLAAD about how to be an ally to transgender people.[14] He has clarified that he is cisgender and not non-binary, but he would like to "normalise 'they/them' pronouns in general."[15]
