R. E. Bradshaw
R. E. Bradshaw is the pseudonym of Vicki Thomas (born 1961),[1] an American writer of contemporary women's fiction. Four of her novels have been finalists for the Lambda Literary Award for Lesbian Mystery.
Biography
Bradshaw was born in Wilson, North Carolina in 1961,[1] and raised in North Carolina. She now lives in Oklahoma with her partner, their son Jon, two dogs, and two cats.[2]
After receiving a Master of Performing Arts, Bradshaw worked in theater and taught high school. In 2010, she quit both jobs to pursue writing full time.[3]
Writing
Bradshaw often writes her novels in series, and even when books are officially standalone novels, they share similar characteristics. For instance, all of her novels are set in North Carolina.[4]
Additionally, characters from one novel often appear in another novel, even one outside of the series. As Furtado noted in a review of Molly: House on Fire, "Sometimes the star in one story only has a walk-on part in another. At other times, a character from one story may be crucial to the story line about another. In all cases, it’s exciting to recognize a character like this. It’s like seeing an old friend."[4] Bradshaw's character Molly Kincaid is a perfect example of this as she appears in the standalone novel Before It Stains, as well as a friend to Rainey Belle throughout the Rainey Bell Mysteries.
