The series was written in Hebrew (19 volumes) and translated into five languages: English (8 volumes),[1] Spanish (9 volumes),[2] Russian (9 volumes)[3] and French (9 volumes),[4] and distributed digitally free online and its license to use excerpts from the book is not for commercial purposes.

Characteristics of the series

The books are divided into chapters and each chapter is divided into sections called "laws" (Halakhot in Hebrew).

With each halakha is also brought its spiritual background. At the beginning of each subject there are a number of "laws" in which the idea of the laws according to the Bible verses, the Midrash, the writings of Hasidism, etc. are explained. After the introduction, the other laws appear as part of the complete idea.

The series brings most of the ruling traditions and customs of the Ashkenazis, Sephardim and Yemenis.[5] The books are written in clear and modern language and focus on practical questions.

The expansion books

The expansion books for the series present summaries of most of the issues discussed in the books and the different opinions on these issues. The books are written by Rabbi Maor Kayem, a rabbi at Har Bracha Yeshiva and the head of the publishing institute.

To this day, books of extensions to the volumes have been written about "Brakhot", "Shabbat", "Yamim noraim", "Sukkot" and Zemanim.[6]

'Extensions' have also been written that have not yet been published in the book and can be found on the series website.[7]

Peninei Halakha for kids

In 2016, the first volume of the "Peninei Halakha for kids" series was published, which is adapted as a comic and combined with stories. So far, seven volumes have been published in this series (Shabbat A-C, Brakhot A and B, Tefilah A and "Shvit and Yovel").

The books are edited and illustrated by Rabbi Yair Bitton.
