Paschim Maharashtra

Paschim Maharashtra (transl.Western Maharashtra), also known as Desh, is the region that is Pune Division. Paschim Maharashtra is a prosperous belt and is famous for its Sugar production factories. Farmer in the region are economically well off due to fertile land, good irrigation. In the region, Sangli District has large number of Sugar factories and Sugar processing plants. Western Maharashtra is considered as a highly developed area of India because its annual income is higher than the average GDP of the country.

Politics

Politics in Paschim Maharashtra is linked with cooperative movement. Most of sugar cooperative factories in western Maharashtra work as power center and play major role in politics. Sangli District has major political climate in the region.[1][2]
