Parliament of Tapihue (1825)
The Parliament of Tapihue of 1825 was diplomatic meeting between representatives of the indigenous Mapuche and the newly established Republic of Chile. The former was represented by lonko Mariluán and the latter by Pedro Barnachea.[1] The treaty was aimed to end the Guerra a muerte conflict that had grown out from the Chilean War of Independence.[1] It was also a means for the Chilean government to establish relations with Mapuches.[1]
