P. J. Hyett

P. J. Hyett (born 1984/1985) is an American software developer and technology entrepreneur, and a co-founder of GitHub, a social network centered around software development, which he created with Tom Preston-Werner and Chris Wanstrath in 2008.[1]

Hyett grew up in Naperville, Illinois. He earned a bachelor's degree in computer science from North Central College. After graduation, Hyett moved to San Francisco. He was a senior software engineer at CNET Networks, and then a partner at Err Free, before co-founding GitHub in 2008.

Following the acquisition of GitHub by Microsoft in June 2018, Hyett's stake in the company had an estimated value of "close to $1 billion".[3]

Hyett is married, has a daughter, and lives in San Francisco.[2][4]
