Oleksandr Ponomariov (politician)

Ponomariov Olexandr (UA: Пономарьов Олександр Сергійович; was born on January 7, 1962 in Berdyansk, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, Ukraine) is a Ukrainian economist and politician. He has served as a People's Deputy of Ukraine of the VIIth and VIIIth convocations.[1]

Ponomariov applied for and received Russian citizenship in 2003.[2] According to his application he obtained citizenship because he had "lived continuously in Russia for at least 5 years."[2] In February 2022 (after "Schemes" had discovered Ponomariov's dual citizenship) Ponomariov could not explain the purpose for which he applied for Russian citizenship in 2003 and added that he "never used it."[2] He also stated that he considered the passport annulled and did not know if it was valid.[2]

  • 2002 – 2006 – deputy of Zaporizhzhia Oblast Council
  • 2006 – was elected a member of executive committee of Berdyansk City Council.
  • 2010 – 2012 – Zaporizhzhia Oblast Council deputy.
  • 2012 – People's Deputy of Ukraine of the VIIth convocation, electoral precinct № 78, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, self-nomination.
  • November 27, 2014 – People’s Deputy of Ukraine of the VIIIth convocation. Electoral precinct №78, Zaporizhzhia Oblast, self-nomination.[3]
  • The member of the deputies’ group "People’s Will"
  • The chairman of subcommittee on the questions of autoroads and public road system of the Verkhovna Rada of Ukraine Committee on transport questions.[4]

In the 2019 Ukrainian parliamentary election Ponomariov was reelected to parliament again in electoral precinct № 78 for Opposition Platform — For Life with 36.85% of the votes.[5][6] Runner-up Vitalii Bohovin of Servant of the People gained 32.44% of the votes.[5]
