NordLayer

NordLayer, formerly known as NordVPN Teams, is a network access security service.[1][2][3] It is developed by Nord Security.[4][5]

History

NordLayer was founded in 2019 as NordVPN Teams. It is a part of NordSecurity, a company which develops NordVPN and SurfShark.[6]

In October 2020, NordVPN Team relocated to the United States.[4]

In September 2021, the NordVPN Teams was renamed as NordLayer.[7]

Software

NordLayer is based on a cloud-based cybersecurity architecture, secure access service edge (SASE).[7]

NordLayer is based on the principle of Zero Trust.[8] It includes features such as two-factor (2FA), kill switch, IP whitelisting, DDoS protection, and hardware firewall monitoring to detect botnet attacks.[9][10]

It has 33 global dedicated server locations.[8]

Reception

In 2022, TechRadar's Mike William reviewed it and wrote positively about its interface, kill switch, private gateways, biometrics, and SSO.[11]
