Musical career

Nique began rapping at the age of 8, but his first official release, Get Off My Cloud, was not until 2013, when she was 19. Her next project, 6 AM, was not released until 2015.[1]

Dazed & Confused

In November 2016, she released her first for-sale project, the EP titled Dazed & Confused.[2] This release was noticeably darker than her previous releases due to the death of her brother and elevated drug use. Prior to the release of the EP, Nique went on the internet radio show The Tuesday Special w/ Kels and admitted to being clinically diagnosed with major depressive disorder, anxiety, and PTSD. The first track on Dazed & Confused was named "PTSD", as an ode to the demons Nique had faced throughout 2016.

Record deal

In 2017, Nique dropped a series of videos, including a video to his song "High Rise." During the Summer of that same year, the rapper began removing most of her music from the internet. Her mixtapes were gone, leaving "Dazed & Confused" as his only body of work. Fans were unsure of why until August, when Nique announced that she had signed to independent label One Famm Music Group and Sony Music. She also announced that "High Rise," which had appeared on 6 AM, would be the lead single for her debut album.
