Career
He started his career in 2003 as a quantitative analyst at Tamiso & Co in New York City.[4]
Maughan is a proponent of investing in companies that bring a true social and environmental impact.[5] His Maughan Capital invested in Forests For Mines Ltd, which converts old coal mines into newly planted forests, and the start-up carbon credit trading exchange Climate Solutions Exchange (CSX), founded by Sir Edward Milbank.[6][7]
Philanthropy
Nick Maughan established The Nick Maughan Foundation (NMF.org) in 2020 as a privately funded philanthropic initiative centred around the three pillars of education, environment and community. NMF's advisory board includes Lord St. John of Bletso, Edward King of the European Climate Foundation and Michael Farrant of Farrant Group.
Education & Community
To narrow the educational attainment gap, Maughan founded NMF to combat the effects of the pandemic on disadvantaged young people's life chances. Through his foundation, Maughan founded BoxWise, a non-profit social enterprise that works to empower disadvantaged young people through sport.[8][9] He is also a trustee of Tusk Trust,[10] an African wildlife conservation charity of which Prince William, The Duke of Cambridge, is the Royal Patron.[11][12][13] Maughan's other community philanthropy initiatives include supporting the Glasgow-based Charlie Miller Football Academy, founded by the former Premier League footballer.[14]
