M. Chandran (Malaysian footballer)

Datuk Chandran Mutveeran, popularly known as M. Chandran (4 May 1942 – 28 September 2019), was a Malaysian footballer.

Playing and coaching career

As a player, he mainly played for Selangor FA during his career, winning trophies for his team and established himself as a main player for them.[2][3]

As a member of Malaysia national team, he competed in the men's tournament at the 1972 Summer Olympics.[4]

After his retirement from playing career, he coached Selangor and Malaysia. He was awarded with Datuk title by Sultan of Pahang in 2000 (who was coincidentally the President of Football Association of Malaysia (FAM) at that time) for his contributions to Malaysian football.

He suffered a stroke in 2006 but kept active in the coaching career and was on the FAM technical committee at various points.[5]

Death

He died at his home in Ampang, Selangor, on 28 September 2019.[6]
