Missouri Association of School Librarians

The Missouri Association of School Librarians (MASL) is a network of school librarians in the state of Missouri.

About

The Missouri Association of School Librarians, founded in 1951, is an organization for library media specialists who work in Missouri schools. It is based in Jefferson City, Missouri.[1][2]

Membership

There are over one thousand active members of MASL.[3]

Readers Awards

MASL sponsors five readers awards. The first four awards listed are voted on by Missouri students of different grade levels. In 2022, over 19,000 Missouri students voted. The Dogwood Readers Award is given to books selected by a committee of professional librarians to connect young readers with quality non-fiction.[4][5]

  • Show Me Readers Award (Grades 1–3)
  • Mark Twain Readers Award (Grades 4–6)
  • Truman Readers Award (Grades 6–8)
  • Gateway Readers Award (Grades 9–12)
  • Dogwood Readers Award (Nonfiction, Grades pre-k-12)
