Miss Grand International 2022

Miss Grand International 2022 will be the 10th Miss Grand International pageant,[1][2] scheduled to be held in the capital of Indonesia, Jakarta on 25 October 2022. Nguyễn Thúc Thùy Tiên of Vietnam will crown her successor at the end of the event.[3]

On the final coronation night of Miss Grand International 2021 in Thailand, the host of the event additionally announced that the 10th anniversary edition of the pageant will happen in Indonesia on 25 October,[4][5][6] with the pre-pageant activities in the tourist destination island Bali,[1][7][8][9] and the final coronation night in the capital city Jakarta.[10] The event was supported by the Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy of Indonesia.[11][10][9] and the implementation of the contest is expected to encourage the recovery of the Indonesian economy after being hit by the COVID-19 pandemic through increased employment in the community.[9][12][13]

Selection of participants

As of 3 May 2022, 12 contestants officially confirmed to participate, 5 of which were appointed to the position without competing in the respective national pageant including the representative of Dominican Republic,[14] Guatemala,[15] Indonesia,[16] Mexico, and Peru,[17] while other 3 candidates obtained the national position after receiving the supplementary title at other national pageants, namely the candidates from Canada,[18] Kyrgyzstan,[19] and Panama.[20] The remainders, Jamaica, Netherlands, Nicaragua and Ecuador delegates, were selected through the national pageants which was separately held to determine their representatives for Miss Grand International 2022.[21][22][23]
