Microsoft India Development Center houses Microsoft's biggest research and development largest R&D centers outside the Redmond headquarters.[1][2] Set up in Hyderabad in 1998, we represent Microsoft's strategy of globally shared development to build products and services. Microsoft's offices in India are in Hyderabad, Bangalore & Noida.Rajiv Kumar is the managing director, Microsoft India Development Center (IDC) and Corporate Vice President of Microsoft's Experiences and Devices (E+D) India Group.

The India Development Center (IDC) has evolved into a mini cosmos of Microsoft engineering. In this journey of 24 years, it has grown from a team of under 10 to ~11000 today with its impact spanning across C+AI, E+D, Gaming, SCIM and Strategic Missions & Tech divisions; the last two divisions have been added only in the current fiscal. The constant growth has been made possible due to a strong foundation built over time with intentional and consistent investments in people, competencies, and culture.

Technologies at IDC

Irrespective of geography or team, every employee at MSIDC is committed to realizing Microsoft's mission of empowering every person and organization on the planet to achieve more. MSIDC is a microcosm of all Microsoft capabilities

Cloud & AI:

Responsible for Microsoft's cloud computing fabric, artificial intelligence platform, and the company's digital transformation strategy. This spans products and services such as Microsoft Azure, the global cloud computing platform, Microsoft Business Applications, including the automated business process capabilities of Dynamics 365, low-code/no-code tools in the Power Platform, internal digital transformation team as MS Digital, and our healthcare-specific data platforms and AI products and services, as well as Mixed Reality, with HoloLens and Microsoft Mesh. It also includes a rich set of developer tools with Visual Studio, Visual Studio Code and GitHub, core commerce capabilities and infrastructure, and compliance solutions across the Microsoft Cloud.

Experiences & Devices Group (E+D):

Works on the software platform, apps, and devices that power the Windows ecosystem. This group is also responsible for Microsoft's global productivity strategy via products and services including Office 365, SharePoint, and Visio.

The Gaming Publisher Experience (GPX): team is responsible for ensuring developers and publishers have low friction access to our ecosystem, rich insights into the publishing experience, and a world-class platform to provide their content to Gamers around the world. The team also provides world-class tools and services from Xbox to Azure to empower Microsoft's game creators.

Security, Compliance, Identity, and Management (SCIM)

This is a newly formed engineering organization and is responsible for advancing Microsoft's cybersecurity capabilities that will benefit the tech sector and the broader economy, and securing digital technology platforms, devices, and clouds.

Strategic Missions and Technologies (SMT): The goal of the Strategic Missions and Technologies team is to boost development of important emerging businesses at Microsoft. It will be tasked with the ongoing growth of key businesses.[3]

Working Environment

In 2008, the campus received the ET, Acer Intel Smart Workplace Award' as the campus gives freedom of expression for innovative thinking to increase productivity and develop technology to change the world.[4]
