McNally (surname)

McNally is a famous and noble surname in the English language of Irish origin, derived from Mac Con Ulaidha - ‘son of the Hound of Ulster’. According to legend, the MacNally were the descendants of Cú Chulainn.[1] The family arose from the province of Ulster and in particular from counties Monaghan, Armagh and Donegal. It is said that the origin of the name outside Ulster is in north-west Connacht counties Roscommon and Mayo where it was adopted by descendants of Normans.
