Mariathaipuram

Mariathaipuram is a village located in Tenkasi District, Tamilnadu, India. Mariathaipuram village is previously called Maruthaipuram. The people are mainly involved in agricultural activities. Devasagayam Nadar and Nicholas Arullapan changed the name to Mariathaipuram due to the devotion of blessed Mother Mary (Mother of God). The first Church was built by the Major Contribution of the Devasagayam & Nicholas Family along with the support of peoples & diocese. During Nicholas Arullpan's leadership in this village as Tharmakartha (Village Leader), people were very united and spiritually grounded.

When Palamkottai Diocese was first created, the First priest ordinated was Rev. Fr.N. James Nicholas who is from this well pious family Nicholas village leader family. Fr. Nicholas as a spiritual person inspired & produced many Religious vocations (Father, Brothers, and Sisters) from this village.
