Maqbool Baqar
Maqbool Baqar (born 5 April 1957) is a retired Pakistani jurist. He served as judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan prior to his retirement on 5 April 2022.
Career
Baqar was confirmed as Judge of High Court of Sindh on 26 August 2003. On 20 September 2013, he was appointed as the Chief Justice of Sindh High Court.[1] He was elevated as Judge of the Supreme Court of Pakistan on 17 February 2015.[2] He served in the Supreme Court till his retirement on 5 April 2022.[3][4]
Assassination attempt
On 26 June 2013, a bombing targeted Baqar's security convoy near Burns Road, when he was on his way to the Sindh High Court in Karachi.[5] The attack claimed by Tehrik-i-Taliban Pakistan killed at least nine people and left 15 others injured.[6]
