Malaysia International Film Festival

The Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) is a public exhibition to showcase international and local films in Malaysia. Accompanying this event is the Malaysia Golden Global Awards (MGGA) where the organization Jazzy Group recognizes filmmakers under their significant performances throughout the entire year. Both events were established in 2016. The mission of the MGGA is to let the enthusiasm and passionate filmmakers all around world to promote their films together and to let them to embrace freedom of film making while achieve their dreams.[1][2][3][4][5]

Events

In 2021, the vivo has a partnership with Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) in organizing a short film competition. A smartphone are required during the contest of the 5 minute short-film and the theme of the film is "Humanity". The contest available starting from the 8th of April until the 25th of April 2021.[6]

On May 3, 2021, the organizer MIFFest had extended the dates for the short film contest until May 10, 2021.

Impact of the COVID-19 Pandemic

The 4th Malaysia International Film Festival (MIFFest) has been postponed until 2021 without an annual awards ceremony. The Film Festival held virtually in January 2021.[7]

MGGA 2022

In 29th November 2021, MIFFest had announced that the 5th Malaysia Golden Global Awards (MGGA) is back, and opened for all feature films from any territories. Submission deadline from 29th November 2021 until 7th February 2022 6:00 pm (GMT +8)[8]

Submission deadline has been extended until 27th February 2022. [9]

The 5th Miffest 2022 is thrilled to collaborate with the 24th Udine Far East Film Festival (FEFF) for the competition partnership this year. Both events intention to gain the milestone of making a bridge among the movie industries withinside the East and the West. The event is officially scheduled to take place from 10 to 15 July 2022, where the awards ceremony will be held on 16 July 2022 at Istana Budaya, Kuala Lumpur.[10] [11] [12]
