Maggi Parker

Marjorie Blache Parker[1] (born February 13, 1927) is an American actress best known for her appearances in the CBS crime drama Hawaii Five-O.

Biography

Parker was born in 1927[2] in Nashua, New Hampshire,[3][4] one of six children of Charles R. Parker,[4][5] a tenter frame operator.[3] She attended elementary schools in Merrimack,[3] and graduated from Nashua High School in 1944.[3] She majored in education at Keene State College,[3][4] and then gained a Master of Education from Boston University,[3][4][6][7][8] then taught in New Hampshire[3][6] and Massachusetts.[3][6][7]
She then joined the US Air Force as a teacher,[6][7][8] and worked in air force schools in Tokyo,[3][4][6][7] Mallorca[3][4][6][7][8] and Madrid (where she was principal).[6][7] She studied for a PhD at the University of Southern California,[6] but did not complete her degree, instead marrying and moving to Hawaii.[6] There, she was a partner in a clinic in Oahu[8] offering educational services to emotionally disturbed children and adults.[3][4][7][8] She lives in Waikiki, Honolulu.[3][4]

In Hawaii, Parker appeared in a Kellogg's commercial,[7] The King Family Show[7] and I Dream of Jeannie.[3][4][7] She also had uncredited roles in several films, including Paradise, Hawaiian Style,[3][4][7] Kona Coast,[7] I Sailed to Tahiti with an All Girl Crew[3][4][7] and Hawaii.[3][7] She was then cast in Hawaii Five-O as Steve McGarrett's secretary May[3][4][6][7][8] and appeared in 14 episodes during the show's first season.

Parker was also the registration and publicity officer of The Friends of 'Iolani Palace,[5][9] the former royal residence of Hawaii. She traveled with Abigail Kinoiki Kekaulike Kawānanakoa to the US and Europe in 1970, seeking original palace furnishings,[5] and worked for the Kawānanakoa royal family for many years.[10]
