Magasang

Magasang was created as a barangay on June 16, 1956 by virtue of Republic Act No. 1543.

Profile

Barangay Magasang is one of the seventeen Barangays of the Municipality of Cantilan, Surigao del Sur. This barangay has a total population of 1,207 as of May 1, 2010 (National Statistics Coordination Board (NSCB)). It has two Sitios namely Suyatan and Malingin.

Black mollusk (Isognomon species) found in the brackish water of Magasang river.

Nearly 20% of its land area are covered by nipa palms and mangroves.

Magasang's Sitio Suyatan has a vast area of rice land. But unfortunately, people here are struggling to harvest rice only once a year.

Barangay fiesta is celebrated here every 17 May in honor of its patron, Saint Isidore Labrador.
