Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is an upcoming American live-action/animated musical comedy film directed by Will Speck and Josh Gordon from a screenplay by William Davies. It is an adaptation of the children's story of the same name by Bernard Waber. It stars Shawn Mendes, Javier Bardem, Winslow Fegley, Constance Wu, Lyric Hurd, Brett Gelman, and Scoot McNairy.

The film is scheduled to be released in the United States on October 7, 2022, by Sony Pictures Releasing.

Premise

The story follows the title reptile who lives in a house on East 88th Street in New York City. Lyle enjoys helping the Primm family with everyday chores and playing with the neighborhood kids but one neighbor insists that Lyle belongs in a zoo. Mr. Grumps and his cat, Loretta, do not like crocodiles, and Lyle tries to prove that he is not as bad as others might first think.

Lyle, Lyle, Crocodile is the feature film adaptation of the children's story of the same name by Bernard Waber. It was announced in May 2021 with filmmaking duo Will Speck and Josh Gordon attached to direct from a screenplay by William Davies for Sony Pictures.[8][9] Filming took place in New York.[10][11] Notable filming locations include 85th Street,[12] 86th Street,[13] Astor Place and Bowery station,[14] and Broadway, between 45th Street and 46th Street.[15] Original music for the film was written by Benj Pasek, Justin Paul, Ari Afsar, Emily Gardner Xu Hall, Mark Sonnenblick, and Joriah Kwamé.[7]

Release

The film is scheduled to be released in theaters by Sony Pictures Releasing on October 7, 2022. It was originally going to be released on July 22, 2022,[8] but in September 2021, the film was postponed to November 18, 2022.[16] In April 2022, the film was brought forward to its October 7 date, taking over the release date of Spider-Man: Across the Spider-Verse.[17]
