Lowell Area Schools

Lowell Area Schools (LAS) is a school district headquartered in Lowell, Michigan.[2] In addition to sections of Kent, its boundary includes sections of Ionia County. In addition to Lowell, the school district includes Alto, Bowne Center, Elmdale, and Parnell.[3] Townships with territory in the district include Bowne,[4] Grattan,[5] and Vergennes.[6] Grand Rapids is about 18 miles (29 km) to the west of the district.[2]

As of 2020 the district has fewer than 4,000 students.[7]

Greg Pratt began working for the school district in Spring 2006 and served as superintendent until August 2020; the COVID-19 pandemic caused him to change his plans as originally he wanted to retire in June.[8] Greg Fowler, the director of curriculum, became interim superintendent after Pratt, and the school board officially named him superintendent in 2021.[9]
