List of parodies in Gintama

The Japanese anime series Gin Tama often parodies other anime, manga, films and television series. The following is a list of those parodies.

This references a scene from Ashita no Joe where Rikiishi attempts to get water from a series of taps only to find that they have all been tied shut with string.

Whilst thirsty, Kagura mentions not caring about boxing anymore and just wanting a drink of water, referencing Rikiishi's intense training to make weight. She also mentions Joe and 'being an udon guy', which references Nishi's weight management as well.

Will Smith/Barack Obama 165 Katsura visits the Shimura household while everyone is suffering from a cold, in the form of 'Will Smith', a wordplay on the Japanese for his name (Wiru Sumisu) and virus (wirusu). He also repeatedly says Obama's slogan- 'Yes we can!'
