List of museums in India

Indian Museum, Kolkata, established in 1814, is the oldest and the largest[1] museum in Asia. It has a collection of 1,002,646 artifacts (as on 31 March 2004).[2]

National Museum, New Delhi, established in 1949, is one of the largest in the country with a collection 2,00,000 plus artifacts.[3]
