List of college swimming and diving teams
This is a list of college swimming and diving teams that compete in the NCAA or NAIA Men's and/or Women's Swimming and Diving Championships.

- Brigham Young University, University of Houston, and University of Cincinnati have accepted an invitation to the Big 12 Conference with a start date of July 1, 2025 at the latest.
- Bryant University has accepted an invitation to the America East Conference with a start date of July 1, 2022.
- Dixie State University will rebrand to Utah Tech University after the 2021-22 school year.
- Florida Atlantic University, Rice University, and University of North Texas have accepted an invitation to the American Athletic Conference with a start date of July 1, 2023 at the latest.
- Florida International University is a member of Conference USA which currently sponsors swimming, however, after expected conference realignments take place there will only be three schools in the conference sponsoring women's swimming. It is unknown if C-USA will continue to sponsor swimming after the changes.
- James Madison University, Marshall University, and Old Dominion University have accepted memberships to the Sun Belt Conference for the 2022-23 season, however Sun Belt currently does not sponsor women's swimming. It has not been announce in which conference any of the listed teams will compete.
- Liberty University and New Mexico State University have been accepted into Conference USA for the 2023-24 season, however, after expected conference realignments take place there will only be three school in the conference sponsoring women's swimming. It is unknown if C-USA will continue to sponsor swimming after the changes.
- Monmouth University and Stony Brook University have accepted memberships to the CAA for the 2022-23 season.
- Old Dominion University has accepted membership to the Sun Belt Conference for the 2022-23 season, however Sun Belt currently does not sponsor men's swimming. It it is expected that Old Dominion will remain in the CCSA.
- UIC has accepted membership to the Missouri Valley Conference for the 2022-23 season, however MVC currently sponsors women's swimming but not men's swimming. Future conference affiliations for men's swimming have not been announced.
- University of Miami only participates in men's diving.
- University of Texas at Austin is scheduled to end it's contract with the Big 12 Conference and join the SEC by July 1, 2025 at the latest.
- University of the Incarnate Word has accepted an invitation to the Western Athletic Conference with a start date of July 1, 2022.
- Bellarmine University began the transition from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I in the 2020–21 school year, moving from GLVC to the ASUN Conference, and placing swimming in the CCSA starting in the 2020–21 season.
- California Baptist University began transitioning out of the NCAA Division II Pacific West Conference in the 2018–19 season and will become a full D-I member in the 2022–23 school year.
- Dixie State University began the transition from NCAA Division II to NCAA Division I in the 2020–21 school year, moving from the Rocky Mountain Athletic Conference to the Western Athletic Conference.
- Lindenwood University was accepted into the Ohio Valley Conference for the 2022-23 season, however the OVC does not sponsor men's or women's swimming. Division I swimming affiliations have not yet been announce.
- Merrimack College began transitioning out of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 Conference in the 2019–20 season and will become a full D-I member in the 2023–24 school year.
- Stonehill College will begin transitioning out of the NCAA Division II Northeast-10 Conference in the 2022–23 season and will become a full D-I member in the 2026–27 school year.
- The University of California, San Diego moved to Division I in 2020, joining the Big West Conference for most sports, with full D-I membership in 2024–25. It is maintaining its MPSF membership in swimming & diving, which is not sponsored by the Big West for either men or women.
- University of Southern Indiana was accepted into the Ohio Valley Conference for the 2022-23 season and is adding men's and women's swimming, however the OVC does not sponsor men's or women's swimming. Swimming affiliations have not yet been announce.
- The University of St. Thomas, which is being expelled from its longtime NCAA Division III home of the MIAC at the end of the 2020–21 school year, will join the Summit League starting in the 2021–22 season. St. Thomas has received an NCAA waiver allowing it to move directly from Division III to Division I.

- College of Staten Island started the transition to Division II in the 2019–20 season, joining the East Coast Conference for most sports. Swimming & diving is not sponsored by the ECC, it will maintain its METS membership.
- Emory and Henry College will begin the transition to Division II in the 2022–23 season. They will compete in the Bluegrass Mountain Conference.
- Frostburg State University will complete the transition to Division II in the 2022–23 season. The school will compete in the Mountain East Conference.
- Bluefield State College will add men's and women's swimming for the 2021–22 school year. They will compete as a swimming independent.
NCAA Division III
- Notes
- NJAC determins the conference champion during the regular season by a round-robin meet schedule. All of the NJAC members also participate in the METS Championship.
- Mills College was slated to close after the 2022–23 school year but it recently has been absorbered by Northeastern University where it will transition from a women's only college to a coed college. It has not been announce what will become of the athletics department.
- University of Rochester has dual membership to both the University Athletic Association and Liberty League. However Rochester only competes at the UAA conference championship.
NAIA
- Notes
- University of British Columbia and University of Victoria hold concurrent memberships in U Sports and NAIA. They are not members of an NAIA conference that sponsors swimming.
